The Packard Twelfth Series was a bold step forward towards elegantly streamlined body contours of cars in the years to come. By 1935 Packard found itself fighting an uphill battle in the fiercly competitve luxury automobile marketplace. Brands like Cadillac and Lincoln that were previously consigned beneath Packard's commanding status as a fine auto maker were now chipping away at Packard's market share.  Packard persisted with building the best car that money could buy. The Twelfth series was a defiant step forward in power, design and value with no compromises. One of the models that best exhibits these qualities is Packard's "Darling of the Gateway to Luxury": The Model 819 Standard Coupe Roadster. It was a gentleman's car made by gentlemen, now more affordable than ever.

Volo Classic Cars is pleased to present this exquisite example of the 1935 Packard Model 819 Coupe Roadster for sale in our showroom.  This car is the product of a collector-owner's total dedication to preserving a car in the best condition possible. At first glance this Coupe Roadster appears as a remarkably kept older restoration. A closer look reveals only the slightest traces of patina and wear that is akin to finely aged wine. Make no mistake this is a genuine preservation car unmolested by trendy repaints or reproduction parts.

The first owner of this car was an affluent woman doctor from New York City. The second owner acquired the car in 1961, where it was kept in a garage from World War II to the day it passed to it's new owner. The second owner freshened it for entry into an inaugural CCCA concours, were it stole the show with it's near showroom-new presentation scoring 92 points earning it a CCCA Senior badge in 1964 (Badge No. 244).

The car passed to it's fifth and current owner about seven years ago. The Coupe Roadster was received in good running order. The onset of half a century would require meticulous maintenance to keep it in the same extraordinary condition it's been in days past. The details of this Packard's upkeep are exhaustive, incuding work and consultation by award-winning Packard expert Tom Moretti. Nearly every millimeter of this car has been sorted with utmost care with intent to preserve it's magnificient running and driving qualities. It is among the most quiet running prewar Packards we've inspected in recent years. We discuss this fine car's preservation details in a special video available on our youtube channel.
