1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible (Bird Nest)

The 1957 was the first significant restyle since the 1955 introduction; skirts featured on the rear fenders with optional chrome Kelsey wire wheels and whitewall tires.  The 1957 model used the instrument panel from the full size 56 Ford with the engine dress up kit.  This car is special for 2 reasons; the D-7 series features the 312 - 270 hp engine, and is one of a few built with the rumble seat known as the "Bird nest".  Ford announced 2 conversion options that were available for 57 T-Birds, the Town Car conversion and the Bird’s Nest Rumble Seat built by Bird’s Nest of Burbank, CA.  The rumble seat was more expensive, desirable and available at $239.00.  It was made obsolete when the new 1958 T-Bird was available.  There were around 120 or so ordered.  This D-7 was restored recently and looks good.  It is loaded with options from wire wheels to 4 way power seat, power windows, town and country radio and the bird nest conversion.  The paint is beautiful smooth black on a good fit laser straight body.  The 312 engine was rebuilt and match numbers.  The transmission is Ford-O-Matic, the chrome is show, the red leather interior is like new with red carpet.  This car features both tops; black harts cloth and black hard top.  It runs and drives wonderful.  Complete video of this vehicle available for $50, refunded with vehicle purchase, and includes overnight shipping of video.  Call our classic car division at 815-385-8408 for video and/or vehicle information.
