Magazine car! Stunning looks.

Known as "Hard Candy" this was a west coast show car. It debuted at the 2014 Sacramento Autorama. Restored by Lucky 7 Customs. It was featured in a 3 page magazine spread.

EXTERIOR: They did an amazing job with the body mods, it's a work of art. Chopped and hard dropped roof, that rear window is really tipped forward. Frenched headlights and taillights, molded front and rear pans, hood and trunk corners were rounded. All the trim, emblems and handles were shaved. Trunk hinges were reversed, fuel door was filled. The grill opening was removed, the front of the hood was extended, and a 56 Dodge grill was frenched in. PPG candy red metallic paint is like glass. Champagne scallops are outlined in black custom side glass in handmade frames. 49 Mercury bumpers were pinched, shaved, and filled. It rolls on chrome wire wheels and fat white walls.

INTERIOR: Custom interior by First Choice. Done in derby brown vintage upholstery. 6 way power Thunderbird seats. All the metal was painted slick. Handmade steel console is really sharp. A stereo is hidden in the glovebox, 6x9s in back. New gauge cluster. Cloth headliner, custom cut carpet. It also features power windows and turn signals.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Eric Wise built Flathead V-8. Upgraded with nostalgic performance parts: Edelbrock heads and intake, tri-power carbs, Mallory ignition and Fenton headers. Upgraded 12 volt system with a chrome alternator.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is boxed and upholstered. Behind the rear panel is the air ride and stereo equipment. The fuel filler and battery were relocated to the trunk.

UNDERSIDE: New RideTech air ride system. The front-end steering and suspension were completely rebuilt. It has Fatman drop spindles. In back it has lowering blocks and the frame was c-notched to drop it low! Fuel tank was replaced. We replaced the master cylinder, bled the system and adjusted the brakes. Dual exhaust with glass pack mufflers. New starter. It has a C-4 automatic with a Pro Shift shift kit and a finned aluminum oil cooler. Ford 8 inch rear. The metal appears to be rock solid.

Service: Our shop spent. We replaced the alternator, master cylinder, air ride system, gauges, heater core and starter. We rebuilt the carb, adjusted windows, fixed blower and headlight switch.

This is a good looking 49. You couldn't come close building it for what we are asking!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
