Experience military fire power and engine power up close and personal on Sunday, June 15 at the Volo Auto Museum’s Father’s Day Military Festival.

The family-owned Volo Museum is already home to a wide assortment of military vehicles along with two giant Huey helicopters, all part of the Combat Zone and Military Museum complex opened in 2004.

For the first time at the Volo Auto Museum, Dads can sit inside select military vehicles   used in combat duty during World War II and Dessert Storm. Actual M-16s used in major conflicts and in the movies will also be on display for all to see.

While Dad is slipping inside a military Jeep or ambulance,  youngsters can slip into U.S. military uniforms worn by combatants during the Second World War.  Throughout the day, military cannons, including a black power cannon, will demonstrate their fire power with the assistance of Captain Zak’s World War II Presenters.

This Chicago area re-enactor troop will be on site throughout the day to demonstrate the trials and tribulations of World War II  encampments  and help educate the visiting public about daily rituals and struggles during this important period  in world history. Bring ear plugs because cannons can be heard from as far away as five miles.

Also joining the Volo Museum’s arsenal of military vehicles are scores of artifacts found in the Military Museum, including a strand of President Abraham Lincoln’s hair.

In addition to this large-scale military experience, 300 classic and antique cars are on display  for fathers and grandfathers of all ages to peruse and enjoy. Adult Admission is $10.

The Volo Auto Museum is located 13 miles west of Great America Amusement Park on Route 120, and two blocks west of Route 12 (Rand Road) on Route 12. For more information, call Marketing Director Dave Boe at 815-385-3644 x 25 or visit www.volocars.com.
