George Barris lights up Fourth of July Weekend
George Barris and his eclectic Batmobile collection
Hollywood custom car designer George Barris returns to the Volo Auto Museum for a three-day extravaganza July 4, 5 and 6. Barris is the legendary creator of such TV and Hollywood vehicles as the 1960s Batmobile, the Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee, Knight Ridder’s K.I.T.T. and scores of other eye-popping vehicles.
“Expect A Miracle Foundation” Classic Car Show
On Saturday, July 5, the second day of the expanded Barris Weekend, the “Expect A Miracle Foundation” hosts a classic car show with proceeds benefiting children of single, working parent homes. Pre 1978 and older vehicles are encouraged to enter. Be sure to register early because last year the event completely sold out.
Those with questions concerning the July 5 charity car show may call 224-567-0507 or e-mail
carshowinfo@comcast.net. Car registration deadline is 7 days prior to the show date. To download a brochure with registration form, see below.
Hollywood in Chicagoland
The Volo Auto Museum is home to one of the largest collection of Barris vehicles anywhere on earth. All will be prominently showcased with George Barris on hand to provide the background of each and every car. George Barris will be signing autographs and talking with enthusiasts for three straight days.
Bring your appetite because an outdoor food court has been added. Many more surprises are in store throughout the day. George Barris will be holding court from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days. What better way to celebrate Fourth of July weekend than with the King of Kustomizers , George Barris himself.
Own A Piece of Hollywood.
The Volo Auto Museum earlier this year scored a major coup by taking possession of more than a dozen more Hollywood vehicles. This exciting new collection will be prominently displayed July 4th weekend on the Volo grounds. Best of all, folks can actually buy some of these cars for their very own collection. Imagine…owning and driving a part of Hollywood history. The Volo Auto Museum can make it happen.
