Combined Barris Classic and Shelby-Ford-Cobra Show Delights Sell-Out Crowd
| VOLO – More than 250 show cars glittered under a perfectly clear sky as Hollywood Kustomizing king George Barris greeted an adoring crowd July 1, 2007. Thousands of spectators enjoyed Volo's biggest car show ever. They were thrilled to be on hand as Volo Auto Museum officials unveiled the museum's latest Hollywood car acquisitions. These included a lifeguard truck from the TV series "Baywatch," a blue pickup truck that is the only earthly vehicle ever used in a "Star Trek" film, the Lotus Esprit from "Pretty Woman," and the awe-inspiring $2.8 million future car. |

Barris, creator of the Batmobile, the Munsters' Drag-ula and numerous other famous cars, spent the weekend greeting Volo Auto Museum visitors, signing autographs and telling tales of his many years customizing cars for films and for film stars. Children had their pictures taken with Batman, and crowds viewed the world's largest "Terminator" tribute, a specially customized semi tractor trailer and truck that is a work in progress by Mad Maxx Customs of Wisconsin. Adding to the excitement of the Barris Classic and Custom Car Show on July 1 was the presence of scores of Shelbies, Fords and Cobras originally signed up for a June 3 show that was postponed due to bad weather. |
| "This was the best show we've ever had," said Volo Auto Museum owner Greg Grams. "We had so many cars, we had trivia, give-aways ... it was really fun." The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and has on display 300 vintage, collector and Hollywood cars. Museum admission includes admission to the Combat Zone. A military museum unlike any other, the Combat Zone features life-like dioramas with lighting and surround sound that puts visitors "in the thick of the battle."
