Breakfast Club Cruise-In throttling up in Volo
VOLO Starting Sunday, June 29, a new collaboration between the Volo Auto Museum and Village Car Wash will bring a top-of-the-morning spin to the areas popular classic car cruise nights.
We are inviting people with special-interest cars and trucks to come to the museum from 9 to 11 a.m. the last Sunday of the month through October, said Brian Grams, director of the museum at 27582 Volo Village Road.
Participants will receive free coffee and Dunkin Donuts pastries, plus half off admission, Grams said. Buying an admission ticket is not required, but the museum will be open early on those dates solely for Breakfast Club Cruise-In participants, providing them with a special opportunity to view the collection before it is open to the general public.
Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Breakfast Club Cruise-ins have become all the rage in California and Las Vegas, said Grams, adding that he is excited to host the events locally with the support of Village Car Wash of Fox Lake.
We have a lot of cruise-ins in the McHenry and Lake County area, but nothing in the morning that I know of, Grams said. They call them cars and coffee. I think it will catch on. Sunday mornings are a nice, low-traffic time to bring out your special-interest vehicle, show it off and enjoy free breakfast.
The Volo Auto Museum has been open since 1960 and occupies the grounds of an 1848-era dairy farm. Adjacent to the Volo Antique Malls, the museum features hundreds of Hollywood, classic and antique cars, most of which also are for sale.
Admission is $13.95 for adults, $8.95 for children ages 5 to 12, $11.95 for seniors 65 and older, and free for members as well as children ages 4 and younger and military personnel in uniform.
