The new Hudson Cab Pickup of 1946 was sold as a commercial vehicle and guaranteed "fast, low-cost delivery service".  This Hudson Hauler was built on a Hudson six sedan chassis.  The cab and hood are adapted directly from the Hudson car body placed in front of the long pickup bed. The Hudson pickup shared the car's column-mounted shift and independent front suspension.  The Cab pickup sold for $1,154 when new and was limited to a 3/4 ton model, opposed to the Pre-WWII years that included a 1/2 ton.  There were just 3374 units produced in 1946.  Hudson discontinued its pickup line for 1948 to reduce cost and focus production resources on the upcoming 'Step-Down' passenger cars.  These days the Hudson express and utility cab pickups are considered by some collectors as the most attractive pickup from the Pre 1950's era.  Auto historians cite the Hudson cab pickup as one of the early inspirations for Chevrolet's El Camino and Ford's Ranchero and it's easy to see why. This Hudson 3/4 ton arrives to our showroom in well-preserved condition.  Vintage copper red paint is presentable and shows excellent patina for those folks that enjoy 'Old Farm Truck' character.  Body is straight despite the onset of well over half a century of age.  Fairly complete example with the exception of a few missing interior and exterior trim pieces and dashboard cluster.  Interior upholstery and headliner have been replaced with modern silver vinyl with lap safety belts.  Motor runs good and the pickup is a pleasant driver compared to Pre 50's Chevy's and Fords.  If you're looking for a vintage truck that's not one of the many 'Me Too' big brand names, look no further than this sturdy Hudson!  Youtube video available upon request.  Call our classic car division at 815-385-8408 for video and/or vehicle information.
