The Roaring 20's era Studebakers were known for their durable six-cylinder engines and excellent value for the money.

The Roaring 20's era Studebakers were known for their durable six-cylinder engines and excellent value for the money. Studebaker offered a number of model lines to meet the discriminating tastes of the mid-to-entry upper class market. They were more muscular than Fords but more understated than Cadillacs and Packards. This combination won many loyal customers that prized Studebaker's build quality above expensive frills. The South Bend, Indiana automaker had garnered a reputation through several endurance race victories and highly publicized reliability tests. When you bought a Studebaker, you bought a strong car made by some of the best in the Midwest. The Standard Six Duplex Phaeton was a new offering in 1924, and remained virtually unchanged until 1927. The heart of the line was the Standard Six engine, displacing 242 cubic inches and developed 50 horsepower at 2200 RPM. These were larger cars than the ubiquitous Fords in every respect: size, speed, power and price. The Duplex Phaeton was unique in that it's California style top was fixed. There were no pillars between the rear shroud and the windshield. Studebaker touted the Duplex's all-weather capability with the inclusion of roll-up side curtains that deployed from the fixed top, a design that was inherently water resistant. Our Standard Six Duplex Phaeton arrives to the showroom with a very recent paint job in handsome dark blue with black fenders. Engine compartment was also detailed with new enamel on the engine itself. Tufted black Spanish grain leather upholstery is in very good condition. Dash shows gentle patina with a clear instrument cluster. Wood Spoke wheels are properly varnished and give a rich, warm contrast to the body. Vinyl fixed top is in excellent condition and shows no cosmetic damage. Engine runs well and the car drives just as good. This is a great Roaring 20's style car giving it's passengers a beautifully unobstructed view of the passing countryside.  Youtube video available upon request.  Call our classic car division at 815-385-8408 for video and/or vehicle information.
