Columbia Motorized Vending Company Popcorn Truck

"Columbia motorized vending company popcorn truck". Back in the days of the industrial revolution many entrepreneurs formed their own companies and would supply parts for different coach builders. Very little information is available on this truck; maybe 1 of 1 or 1of 3 built; to our knowledge the only survivor know to exist. Clearly has cloisonne badges on rear end panel with "Columbia motorized vending company" logo on the body in 2 areas. Columbia Buggy Company, famous for commercial bodies designed for the Model T Ford, stake racks, ambulances and hearses. 1907 - 1916 may have ventured into the motorized vending service. Cretors supplied the popcorn equipment, Henry Ford supplied the 1912 chassis and "Smith Form a Truck" provided the extension and dual chain drive on the Ford. To accommodate this rare body the chassis frame was extended 4 feet; has Ruxtell rear end. This could be an extremely rare find. When purchased by past owner all was much in tact with photos. Appears original 1912 engine was replaced with a totally rebuilt 1919 electric start Ford engine. It was painted up for aesthetic looks; which many have been delivered Circus to Circus on a rail flatbed as indicated by the tow hitch. Restoration completed in 2016. All wheels rebuilt with new fellows and new hard rubber installed on rear wheels. "Smith Form a Truck"; used on early model T's, was dismantled, researched and completely rebuilt with new gear bearings and new chains. Rear brakes completely replaced, new fuel tank installed. Original mirrored silhouettes were re-created true to the original and framed on front of body. All cabinets were restored and re-constructed by craftsmen with all period Brass fittings. Popcorn machine upgraded to newer Cretors; which can be used today to make great popcorn. Exterior is finished in lipstick red with all the brass trimmings. Top of body is fitted with Columbia Coupla vents. All other body parts are honey oak finish and work properly. The 1912 chassis by Ford has all the beautiful brass head lamps and brass side lights contrasted with a brass radiator. Seat is red leatherette diamond tuft. Truly a very unique piece of history.
