The beautiful Boatail Speedster built in Auburn, Indiana to capture the press of the "New York Auto show" and that it did. The racy lines and Boatail give the car an aviation look like its moving when standing still. Famed designer Alan Leahmy was an icon designer who passed very young to be followed by famed Gordon Buerig who designed the 1935-36 Auburn Boatail - a take off of the 1931. This car powered by L head Lycoming engine mated to the manual 3 speed floor shift transmission. This Auburn is primarily built from an original with a glass Boatail body. This Auburn was a recent body off restoration with a famed color combination body clad in regal red with black fenders and silver belt line. 6 Buffalo wire wheels with wide whitewalls and chrome knock off bronze caps; threaded for quick dismount and change. The interior is correct pattern with supple red leather interior with a hidden black canvas harts cloth top. Very few original speedsters were built; the design became an icon in automotive art and history. This example runs and drives very good. Company owner El Cord was influenced and intrigued by aviation; which is imaged by the dash features and the split Vee windshield. A great asset to any fine collection and car of choice by Museum owner. Youtube video available upon request.
