X22 code = SS396. Code 52 = Garnet red!

One of the most popular cars of this era! We sell Camaros like popcorn. Of the Camaros I would say a red RS-SS, 396 convertible would top the list! According to the cowl tag this is a genuine X22 SS396 car, it's also paint code 52 which is Garnet red. Collector owned the last 14 years.

EXTERIOR: Clean, straight body. No rust or damage and the paint has been on there at least 14 years it has a metal cowl hood and spoilers. Repainted its original Garnet Red. It presents itself very well, smooth glossy finish. Painted on stripes. New windshield. Overall, the chrome, emblems, mirrors look great. Original rear mount antenna. Black convertible top is in great shape. It is a power top car that's disconnected, it lifts manually. The SS wheels are clean. 2 front tires rubbed; we bought 2 new proper size BFGs. All the locks including glovebox were replaced.

INTERIOR: Overall good shape- dash pad, upholstery, door panels etc. It does have optional tachometer, console with gauges and a tilt column with a new rosewood wheel. Reproduction mats in the floor. Retro stereo in the dash. Upper steering column was rebuilt, new ignition lock.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct 396 motor, casting dates and codes match the car. The motor was completely rebuilt with hardly any miles on it. We have the spec sheet. Correct manifolds, air cleaner and valve covers. Correct # Holley carb was restored. Upgraded HEI ignition system. New wiper motor. It features power steering and brakes. It appears proper and complete. It has spring clamp cables, a disconnect switch, both horns, hood insulation, fan shroud etc.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Clean solid trunk. It is complete with reproduction mat and weatherstrip. Reproduction SS wheel, reproduction Wide Oval tire, reproduction jack assembly.

UNDERSIDE: The front end components look good. In back the leaf springs, bushings and shocks have been replaced. Correct dual exhaust system with transverse muffler. Disc brakes in front, the e-brake is hooked up. Looking up at the motor it is still spotless, starter and fly wheel cover is new. Recently rebuilt correct Turbo 400 automatic. New speedo gear and housing. Correct 12 bolt rear was serviced: seals and fluid replaced. Floors appear to be rock solid original metal.

We inspected the car, our shop spent $1,339. Calibrated speedo, wiper motor, starter, reverse lights, 2 new tires and dent buster. We have receipts from the owner, he spent $14,000 on engine, trans, carb and misc. Good honest car ready to drive and enjoy!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
