Titanic Exhibit Floods in Eerie Way at Volo Museum

Volo, IL - June 24, 2024 - The Volo Museum, renowned for its rich history and uncanny paranormal activity, experienced an unusual and mysterious incident over the weekend. The museum's popular Titanic exhibit, just over a year old, was unexpectedly flooded on Saturday night amidst severe thunderstorms. This event marks the first instance of flooding in the building’s more than 40-year history.
Discovery of the flooding on Sunday morning prompted immediate action to prevent damage to the valuable displays and artifacts, including dresses and fashion items from the Titanic era. The exhibit is temporarily closed and museum staff meticulously dismantled and reassembled the exhibit to ensure the preservation of its contents. The Titanic exhibit is now set to reopen on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Adding to the mystery, there were no apparent sources of the water. Thorough inspections revealed no broken pipes, roof leaks, or any other obvious points of entry. Even the perimeter of the building was dry, with no signs of water ingress.
The only clue to this enigmatic flooding was captured on security footage. The video showed water emerging from beneath a 1912 Renault, a sister car to the one that sank with the Titanic – the only car known to have been on board. The footage eerily mirrored scenes from the 1996 Titanic movie, with water rushing in inexplicably. Despite extensive inspections, no reason for the water's appearance could be found. The building, with its concrete floor and 40-plus years of flood-free history, presented no logical explanation for this occurrence. The surrounding area is not prone to flooding, and there were no visible cracks or holes in the foundation.
This unexplained flooding incident adds to the Volo Museum’s reputation as a hotspot for paranormal activity, which previously attracted the attention of the Discovery Channel’s Ghost Hunters. During their episode filmed on location, investigators were not disappointed by the supernatural phenomena encountered.
The Volo Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. In addition to theVolo Museum and Titanic exhibit, visitors can explore Jurassic Gardens.
