The 1949 New Yorker Highlander convertible exhibited here arrives fresh

Chrysler rolled out the second iteration of the New Yorker model line to the public as a competitor to Cadillac's Series 62 convertible and Buick's Roadmaster.  The Post War economy and an ever-expanding highway system provided the ideal market conditions for these convertible luxury liners.  This segment valued comfort, plush ride quality and robust engine performance for extended driving periods.  The Chrysler New Yorker had these qualities in spades.  Combined with the Highlander premium trim package and prestomatic automatic transmission, Chrysler's top-tier luxury car was an attractive and compelling alternative to GM and Ford rivals.The 1949 New Yorker Highlander convertible exhibited here arrives fresh from a frame-off restoration with less than 20 miles on the odometer.  This car is in outstanding condition from the beautiful Navy blue haartz top to the new wide whitewalls.  Paint is Plata blue is exceptional and has been polished to a lustrous gloss.  Interior upholstery has been refitted with new leatherette in complimentary light and dark blue tones.  The dashboard has been refreshed but mostly left untouched being in such good original condition.  The engine compartment and undercarriage are thoroughly detailed.  There are few Chryslers of this vintage that present this beautifully with most of those being the Town & Country models.  One would be hard pressed to find such a comparison in a T & C at the price of this dazzling New Yorker!  Youtube video available upon request.  Call our classic car division at 815-385-8408 for video and/or vehicle information.
