Buick was building a reputation with the Dynaflash Eight.
Buick was building a reputation with the Dynaflash Eight. The powerful inline eight cylinder motor boasted 141 horsepower, more than enough power to propel Buick's largest Sedans past highway speed limits. The Century was one of Buick's premium models powered by this legendary engine. It was conceived as a car that was capable of reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour. Even the name “Century” was English shorthand for a 100 mile journey. Visionary designer Harley Earl was instrumental in the Century's design. He proposed a bevy of deluxe features inspired by his favorite Cadillac elements: hydraulic brakes, plush upholstery, Art Deco chrome trim styling, and a modern streamlined body. The Buick Century had set a new standard in value, features, and performance. The Century showcased here makes a bold first impression with it's mirror finish Black paint and abundance of chrome. The doors open wide to an expansive interior furnished in durable twill seats and plush tan broadcloth on the headliner. The wide dash is a panorama of chrome, enameled woodgrain, and vintage Tenite plastic dials and knobs. Overall the interior is in excellent condition, with floor mats naturally showing the majority of any wear, while the seats and headliners look virtually untouched. The paint is in very good condition with very slight blemishes, and the chrome shows in good to very good condition, with only slight speckling around the ornament and grille. Engine compartment is presentable and consistent with a driver's quality classic car. This is an excellent late 30's cruising car ideal for extended excursions and highway performance.
