Ghostbusters
Welcome to the Volo Museum, where we have one of the most exciting cars on display - the Ecto-1! This iconic vehicle is instantly recognizable from the blockbuster movie Ghostbusters, and it's no surprise that it's become just as popular as the stars of the film. In fact, this car has aged better than most Hollywood actors! The 1959 Miller Meteor is a rare gem, with only 25 ever produced. Of those 25, only two were converted into Ecto-1s for screen use, one for the first movie and the other for the second. Both of these screen-used cars are owned by Sony, but we have the next best thing - a stunning replica that was built for touring, theme park use, and exhibition.
But wait, there's more! This particular Ecto-1 has a fascinating backstory that adds to its charm. It was originally a screen-used car with movie history before being converted into an Ecto-1 for exhibition. And while it may look like a 1959 model, it's actually a 1960 Cadillac that was dressed up in '59 trim, including the famous huge fins that the 1959 Cadillac is known for.
The Volo Auto Museum acquired this car directly from the transportation department and had it fully restored to its former glory. And if you need more proof of its authenticity, we have a bill of sale from the transportation department, as well as signatures from Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, two of the original Ghostbusters cast members.
So come on down to the Volo Museum and see the Ecto-1 for yourself - it's a piece of cinematic history that you won't want to miss!
