1 of 4 Tuckers Built for the 1988 Movie. Available for Auction Sept 19th

To Be Auctioned Off No-Reserve Beginning on Sept. 19th.

This is one of 4 Tuckers built for and used in the 1988 movie “Tucker; The Man and His Dream”. Tuckers have become one of the most collectible and valuable cars in the industry reaching prices that exceed that of the ever-popular Duesenberg. Very few will ever see a Tucker in person, even fewer are privileged enough to own one. Here is a rare opportunity to own a very historic Tucker at a price that is far more achievable.

A total of 4 fiberglass Tuckers were built for and used in the popular 1988 film based on the true story of a small car manufacturer taking on the “big three”. This particular Tucker is built on a 1968 Ford LTD chassis. It runs and drives for movie use but was not built to be driven on the street. When we purchased this car, it had been dismantled and sitting for many years. The owner had plans of restoring it into a full replica Tucker. Because of its historic movie value, we decided to restore the car as seen on film preserving its movie history. During the restoration process several layers of paint of different colors were discovered leading us to believe it represented numerous cars throughout the film. It's last use in the film was during the 24-hour endurance scene where it was depicting real-life Tucker #1027 which on Oct. 18, 1948 was driven by chief engineer Eddie Offutt when it spun out of control and rolled over twice. In real-life, Offutt suffered only a bruised elbow proving the effectiveness of the Tuckers safety design. In the movie a total of 3 Tuckers were used for this scene, a pre-crash version with no body damage, a Studebaker that was fitted to look like a Tucker that was actually rolled by a stuntman and then this 3rd car that had the fake damage.
While this car does have a VIN and title from the LTD we are selling it as a movie prop only. It does run and drive but it does not have any functioning lights, turn signals or other accessories required to be street legal. The windows are smoked and stationary. The interior is basic and raw with a single bench front seat and stock LTD dash.

Estimate $85,000 - $100,000. Auctioned off to the highest on-line bidder beginning September 19th For more info on the auction visit https://www.volocars.com/the-attraction/exhibits/2018-auction *Has title, titled as a 1968 Ford.
