1990 ZR-1 Corvette Owned New by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys
We'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-bird away! Or in this case, a Corvette. The Beach Boys are one of the most icon bands ever formed on this planet. In 1988 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It doesn't matter if you are old or young, everyone knows at least one Beach Boys song. Their music was very popular with the automotive culture, songs like Little Deuce Coupe, She's real fine my 409 and many more, including Shut Down a song about a Fuelie Corvette. Surf boards, cute girls, California dreams. The genius behind their timeless music was Brian Wilson. He was a producer, songwriter and performer. It's no surprise that behind the music Brian Wilson was a thoroughbred car lover as well. One of his biggest loves was the Chevrolet Corvette, including this ZR-1 that he purchased new.The 1990 Corvette ZR1 was an amazing, track-destroying monster of a sports car that came about when GM bought Lotus. Lotus took four years to perfect the Corvette, and the result was one of the greatest sports cars ever made. With a top speed of 170 mph it was Chevrolet's answer to the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa. It was the fastest production car of its time.
Brian Wilson was able to get one of the first ZR-1's to roll off of the assembly plant, the 204th out of the 3,049 that were built to be exact. Cost new was just over $60k. This has been on display in our Cars of the Rich and Famous exhibit since 2011 when it was acquired by our museum. The car is completely stock and untouched with exception of a "straight out of 1990" color matched car phone that was installed by Brian Wilson. It has only 22,738 miles. It has been displayed in our museum for the past 9 years and while we would like to keep every car we collect for the museum, we have to let something go to get something new to keep the museum exciting and different for returning guests. This is your opportunity to get a car with some amazing history. Solid investment.
