Gold spinner winner late 80s, only 1,500 miles since!

We just purchased from the estate of a collector that has owned this car the last 33 years. It was restored in the late 80s and only 1,500 miles since. I have a pile of detailed restoration receipts from a professional company. It scored 952/1000 points awarding it a Gold Spinner.

EXTERIOR: I think the body has held up real well considering it was restored 33 years ago and it's black. The panels fit real nice, doors shut like new. Standing next to the car it is still very straight and has a mirror like finish. Upon inspection of the car you will find some minor flaws. Over all the chrome and trim are real bright and shiny. Up front the bumper, grill, everything is a 7 out of 10. The same thing in back. The stainless moldings down the sides are a 9 out of 10. White convertible top is still real nice, the frame is painted a smooth gloss black. It has the correct cloth wrapped rubber. We just replaced the power top motor.

INTERIOR: It's completely stock interior. The upholstery was replaced with the correct tri-color. The door panels were replaced with correct blue anodized inserts. The armrests, window cranks, handles and stainless scuff plates along the bottom are excellent. The carpet has been replaced. In front of me the dash is very nice looking. The metal is painted gloss black, trim is very good.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The motor compartment was restored to stock with the exception of an updated power brake booster and dual master cylinder. It also features factory power steering and a four barrel carb. The motor was completely rebuilt. It has stock valve covers, manifolds, air cleaner etc. Power steering hoses look recent. Everything looks tidy and clean. The metal surfaces are smooth and painted.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Big trunk has a spare, rubber mat and a car cover. The original master and booster is also included in a box.

UNDERSIDE: Looks like the front end has been completely rebuilt- sway bar bushings, shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends and the power steering unit were replaced. Looking up at the bottom of the motor it looks clean, it has the correct screw on canister type oil filter. A rebuilt Powerglide transmission transfers the power to the rear end. In back the shocks look recent. The exhaust has been bent nicely, it follows the X frame. It has glass pack style mufflers. The fuel tank looks like it's been replaced. The brakes were recently serviced.

1958 was a one year design. You don't see these often and when you do it makes a statement. This 33 year old restoration has held up real well so far, I assume it will continue to look good for a long time. Only 1,500 miles on the rebuild, it's just getting broke in!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
