Documented real Shelby. Desirable factory red & 4-speed.
Documented, genuine Shelby. The 94th Shelby built in 1968! It has a framed deluxe Marti Report, original Shelby vin tag, buck tag and it's listed in the Shelby registry.EXTERIOR: Shelby knew how to make a good looking car look even better. Upfront it has a unique Shelby grill with Lucas fog lamps and a special fiberglass hood with twist locks. There are scoops on each side. In back it has fiberglass dovetail trunk and end caps. The tail panel is unique with sequential taillights and Shelby pop up gas cap. Shelby stripes and emblems finish it off. The body is very clean and straight metal. No rust. There are some typical stress cracks in the fiberglass hood. It's a factory Candy Apple red car, the paint has a smooth glossy finish. Overall the chrome and trim is very nice. It has reproduction Goodyear tires on Shelby 10 spoke wheels.
INTERIOR: It has the deluxe interior with features unique to Shelby. The biggest one being a factory roll bar with retractable shoulder harnesses. It also has a Shelby center console with vintage Stewart Warner gauges. It has a factory tachometer in the dash. Signed by Carroll Shelby above the glove box and on the radio delete plate. The upholstery has been replaced, it has the sport fold down seat in back. Over all the door panels, dash, carpet and trim is very nice. It has a new headliner.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has the 302 which Shelby grossly underrated at 250 horsepower. It has an aluminum high rise intake with a giant Holley carburetor. It also has headers dressed up with Cobra aluminum valve covers and air cleaner. New Edelbrock aluminum water pump. It features power brakes and a chrome support bar. The battery is bolted down, it has both horns, squirter bottle is hooked up. The engine bay has clean straight metal painted gloss black. The original Shelby tag and the Ford buck tag are still in place.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk is solid metal. It has a trunk mat trunk mat and jack. It also has a 5th matching reproduction Good Year tire on a new 10 spoke wheel. The trunk light works.
UNDERSIDE: Looking up at the motor it's clean. It has an extra capacity, finned aluminum Cobra oil pan. The fuel pump is new, starter looks fresh. It has a wide ratio toploader 4-speed trans. Correct rear end with 3.89 gears. Front end looks like it's been rebuilt. The bushings, steering components, ball joints have been replaced. It has an upgraded swaybar. Koni gas shocks all around. It has dual exhaust with the tips going out through the valence. The floors look really dry and clean metal. Frame rails and factory spot welds are clean. There's no undercoat.
The Shelby name is legendary. Vintage Shelbys have sold in the millions of dollars. Modern Shelbys are also hot commodities. This is a highly desirable car that will continue to climb in value. Overall it's a clean car, not a pristine show car. It's red, it's a 4-speed and it's a real Shelby!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.
