Ford v Ferrari
Hold on to your seats, because the GT40 displayed at the Volo Museum is not just any car - it's the Holy Grail of Ford v Ferrari movie cars! This magnificent machine was the center of attention in the blockbuster film, with the entire plot and build-up leading to Ken Miles' legendary race at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans in this very car. And it's not hard to see why - this car is easily the most recognizable of all the cars used in the movie, and was featured on all the movie posters and DVD covers. With a 5-star rating and lots of screen time, this car is an absolute star! But that's not all. Out of the only two blue #1 Le Mans GT40 race cars built for the movie, this car, built by RCR, was the only one used during production. The Superformance car was just for promotional purposes and appeared at the red carpet event. This is the very car that Christian Bale was seen in, used for both interior and exterior filming, including the iconic scene where the door wouldn't close! With a full custom aluminum chassis identical to the original GT40 produced by Ford, this car was built to race car specification. The body is exact in dimension and shape to the original as well. And while all the cars on set were powered by Chevrolet LS3 engines connected to a Porsche transaxle for ease of use by the mechanics, this car was dressed in "Hollywood Make Up" to appear dirty and raced.
This beauty was purchased directly from the transportation department and comes with a fully documented certificate of authenticity. Don't miss your chance to see this incredible piece of movie history up close and personal at the Volo Museum!
