National Lampoon's Animal House
Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to experience the ride of your life! The Volo Museum is proud to display the one and only 1959 Corvette used by Tim Matheson as "Otter" in the iconic film Animal House! This beauty was not only featured in press pictures with the entire cast, including the legendary John Belushi, but it was also the star of the movie poster and film cover. Plus, it even inspired the creation of several die-cast and toy cars with miniature cast member figures! But wait, there's more! This gem was lost to the public for over 40 years before it was acquired by the Volo Museum. Originally purchased by an Oregon resident who worked in the movie business, this Corvette was rented to Universal Studios for four weeks for a mere $400! After the movie, the car was parked in a shed and left untouched for decades, still wearing its original prop license plate and narrow white wall tires.
And let's not forget about the car itself! This 1959 Corvette is a true survivor with only 37k miles, and less than 200 miles have been added since 1975. It boasts a factory 283-Dual Quad 4 speed with 2 tops and a Wonderbar Radio, along with its original paint, chrome, and soft top. The only noticeable changes are the black diamond pleat interior (as seen in the movie stills) and minor upgrades such as a Hurst shifter and headers.
But wait, there's even more! This Corvette is fully documented with receipts and canceled checks from Universal Studios, making it the real deal. Don't miss your chance to witness this piece of Hollywood history in person at the Volo Museum.
