The 1958 Chevrolet Light Duty Trucks were known as the "Task Force" Series. Continuing where the "First Series" left off, the Task Force line featured the new Apache premium cab package. Chevy's restyling of the hood, grille, and trim peaked with the introduction of the Apache models. Collectors prize these '58s which are considered some of the best looking Chevy trucks of all time. A dealer-entombed '58 Cameo Pickup with less than 5 miles recently took $145,000 at a Nebraska auction. Cameos of less mythical proportions will take $60,000+ on the national auction circuit.The Cameo Carrier 4x8 fiberglass bed would have it's last run during this year. Chevy designers introduced a new all-steel slab sided bed that allowed for more cargo area while maintaining the sleek slab-sided look of the Cameo bed fenders. 1958 Would be the only year in which two famous Chevy emblems - Apache and Cameo - appear on the same pickup truck.
