Meticulous ground up resto with upgrades!
Meticulous ground up restoration with a 4 inch stack of documentation. Has some tastefully done upgrades. Same owner the last 40 years. He got the car in exchange for putting gutters on someone's house! He put a lot of time, money and research into the restoration. He is proud of the car. Even after I purchased it we spoke, my opinion of the car meant a lot to him. He said he really researched every part and everything done to the car making sure it was quality.EXTERIOR: Incredible body and paint restoration, far better than the factory ever put out. It is literally straight as an arrow, not a ripple. The panels fit square and flush. Doors and trunk shut like new. It is mirror reflection anywhere you look, polished like glass. The jambs are painted real slick. There's new window seals, weather strips and sill plates. Every piece of exterior chrome and trim is either new or restored. The grill looks like it's all brand new. The stainless around the windows is polished. New emblems, mirrors, handles. New windshield and gasket. New rubber around the vent window. Has correct antenna. In back is new including tail lights, gas cap, reverse lights and it has the GT exhaust splitters. New 14 inch BFG tires on GT wheels. It has the Sprint package which includes the louvered hood with turn signals and stainless rocker moldings.
INTERIOR: It was completely gutted then restored like new. It was insulated with Dynamat including inside the doors. Window mechanisms were rebuilt. Rewired with Ron Francis wiring. The seat frames were painted, new cushions, new correct upholstery. New carpet, headliner, visors, door panels and armrests. The plastic panels in back are repainted like new. Has full-length console with the garage door and it has been restored like new. The entire dash area has been restored with new paint, chrome trim and dash pad. They cleverly installed a mini tachometer in a factory location. The Mustang retro stereo fits right in the factory hole has an auxiliary plug and there are kick panel speakers painted to match so they blend in. There are some really cool looking maroon floor mats with ponies and white stripes, I've never seen them before. The interior lights all work, dash lights work. The interior looks and feels like brand new. The maroon inside is really sharp, it's all 1 shade of maroon too.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Completely restored and detailed. The 289 is pumping out at least 385 horsepower. Completely rebuilt, has roller valve train, Weiand aluminum intake, Holley 570 Street Avenger carb. Dressed up with tall aluminum valve covers. Very cool tubular Monte Carlo and support bars. It runs cool to thanks to the oversized aluminum radiator and dual electric fans. Everything looks new- nuts and bolts, alternator, wires, water pump, pulleys, brackets, etc. The firewall and inner fenders are smooth metal painted semi gloss black. Jambs and under hood painted as nice as the car. Has power steering and brakes.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Insulated with Dynamat. It has been boxed in and upholstered, real sharp looking.
UNDERSIDE: It is completely restored underneath. The floors are all clean solid metal. Sprayed with durable bedliner. Front suspension and steering is completely rebuilt and detailed. Upgraded with tubular upper and lower control arms, Borgeson steering box, and a sway bar. Has new leaf springs in back, with custom perches, roller bushings with grease fittings. New QA1 gas shocks at all 4 corners. There are welded in tubular frame connectors. It was also upgraded with disc brakes at all 4 wheels. This car's handling was greatly improved. Has coated Hedman headers going back to some Flowmaster mufflers and GT splitter tips. Has TSI C-4 trans with performance build. Has h.d. components, turbo action shift kit and 24 spline converter. Many new parts- brake and fuel lines, fuel sender, e-brake cables, u-joints, grommets, fuel tank etc.
Inside and out, top to bottom this is a quality Mustang. Has great features, great colors. Someone will be very happy owning this one!
