Only one known to exist! Big 74 hp, has history going back to new. CCCA Classic

 Only 120 produced and this is the last known survivor. We have an interesting owner history going back to new. 59,900 original miles. Completely restored in the 60s and we'll cared for since. This is considered a genuine classic by the Classic Car Club of America. As a matter of fact, the CCCA president owned this car!

History: It was used in a 1926 Beach Club photo shoot. Purchased new in 1926 by Cebert Holmes, who owned department stores in California. The car was passed to Cebert Holmes, Jr. who also accumulated other classics. It was rarely seen and likely never left California because it had suffered a severe transmission failure decades ago and sat in a separate building on the Holmes estate. After the death of Cebert Holmes, Jr., at the age of 91, the car finally left California. It was purchased by the Classic Car Club of America president Carroll Jensen. She sold it in 2020. We just acquired it along with 24 other cars from the Claude O. Estate. He had a full time mechanic maintaining his cars. He wanted to be able to drive any car at any time.

The Marmon Motor Car Company traces it's roots to 1852 when the original company produced flour mill grinding equipment. They began producing cars featuring air cooled engines in 1902. Although their automobile production fell victim to the Great Depression, the company continued manufacturing automobile parts. They remain in business and the corporation is currently owned by Berkshire Hathaway.

Marmon is credited with introducing the rear-view mirror and known for their extensive use of aluminum in various components. The inaugural Indianapolis 500 was won by a Marmon Wasp in 1911.

EXTERIOR: Impressive stature. Long 5 passenger touring, the radiator is almost as tall as me! Unique all aluminum body and hood. Very few cars were aluminum in 1925. The fenders are steel. Restored several years ago and it has held up remarkably well. The body is solid with no damage. The metal is straight, wood structure is solid. The 3 tone paint is beautiful. It has a smooth glossy finish but cracking in several places from age. It still presents itself very well. Long running boards have excellent linoleum coveting. The convertible top is in excellent condition, the material matches the interior. 2 people can easily fold the top down quickly. It has a very nice fitting boot that covers the folded top. It does have the side curtains. 2 piece folding windshield. It does have a complete set of side curtains. Beveled wing windows on nickel brackets. This was after the brass era but before chrome. Nickel was used on the bright work. It is all in excellent shape on this car. It has beautiful headlights with glass lenses and matching cowl lights. Also unique taillight that says Marmon right on it and stop on the glass lense. The Motometer hood ornament actually works, it has a thermometer that tells the temp of the motor. The wood spoke wheels are beautiful, the look freshly restored. Tires look like new. It has dual spares in back.

INTERIOR: Genuine leather upholstery is still excellent. It has a unique embossed pattern that matches the top. The door panels are upholstered to match, each has a compartment under a flap. The carpet in back is in excellent shape, it has and adjustable foot rest. Upfront it has ribbed rubber floor with chrome edges in excellent shape. The original tags are still attached to the inner firewall. The instruments still look great and they all function except the clock. I drove the car, I checked myself. It also has a retractable cigarette lighter on cloth wrapped wire. Big wood steering wheel, locking shifter and a beveled mirror.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Big 350 cubic inch 6 cylinder making 74 hp. That was a powerful motor in it's time. It looks like the motor and components were apart and properly restored. It actually looks fresh. The water pump, valve cover gasket, spark plugs look new.

UNDERSIDE: Overall very clean and proper. Smooth dry metal with smooth paint. The wood is solid. Bottom of the motor, the 3-speed trans and rear end are clean.

Conclusion: This is a genuine classic that is allowed to participate in CCCA caravans and events. Or just taking it for ice cream will be a fun experience. Rare to have such a complete history. I really like this one!
