Original paint & interior survivor! Documented, #s match

This almost too good to be true, but it is true! This is an unrestored original survivor including paint, chrome, and interior. 48,806 original miles, # 's match throughout. Documentation includes original build sheet, protect-o plate, owner's manual, and literature. This is a serious investment car. Unmolested survivors are typically cars like Grandma's LTD, or Uncle Bill's Lincoln that were left parked mostly unnoticed. Low mile muscle cars typically were 1/4 mile at a time with significant modifications. This is a unicorn! Finding the most popular muscle car made, a 1970 Chevelle SS, that has been preserved like this one is unheard of!

There is a 2 page article telling the car's story. A young guy named Jay bought a new red 70 Chevelle SS and beat the heck out of it. His neighbor Bob really liked the car, so he went out and bought this one. Except Bob babied this car. Years later Jay got a call saying Bob had passed away, he attended Bob's funeral and there was this Chevelle still sitting in the garage covered in sheets. Jay bought this Chevelle and owned it until a few years ago. We purchased it from the 3rd owner.

EXTERIOR: Completely original, unhit rust free body. The gaps line up spot on, the doors operate smoothly. It has its original cowl induction with working flapper door. It is still wearing its original Autumn Gold paint. It has held up remarkably well with just the right amount of patina. All original chrome, weatherstrips, glass and even the vinyl top. Original SS wheels, never been spray painted over. Correct Goodyear polyglass tires.

INTERIOR: All original interior from carpet to headliner. It still shows great! It has factory gauges including a tachometer. No cuts or cracks, the original Am radio is still in place. The original dash pad, instrument panel, heater controls, knobs, vents all look great. The factory console still has the original Muncie shifter and chrome ball. The upholstery still looks great, there are a couple splits on the driver seat. The door panles, headliner and carpet look great. I am impressed at how clean and unchanged this interior is.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: # 's matching original 396ci 350hp engine it was born with. The Chevy orange was carefully resprayed. Original chrome valve covers with the spotweld dimples. It has a restored Q-jet carb. The original, distributor, coil and plug wires are included, a new HEI ignition was installed. On top is the complete cowl induction system, the decals on the air cleaner are still original! Factory exhaust manifolds were refinished with Eastwoods kit. All original metal engine bay, everything is clean and exactly how it would be from the factory. Correct hoses, clamps, battery cables and a Delco battery topper. It features power brakes.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It's a time capsule in the trunk! All original paint under the trunk lid and jambs. The original jack sticker is still intact. The original weatherstrip still has its ink mark at the top center. I geek out over original trunk spatter, this is about the nicest I have seen. Most have been spray canned over. Complete with its original SS spare wheel and matching Polyglass tire. Original jack assembly and mat. A car cover is included too.

UNDERSIDE: Very well-preserved underside with only a few items replaced. It has a complete Gardner original type exhaust system complete with resonators and cowbell tips. The shocks were replaced. It has the F41 suspension which includes boxed rear control arms, front and rear swaybars. The original springs still have tags on them. The brakes were serviced, it has disc in front. The original brakes were replaced. It has power disc in front, drum in rear. Looking up at the motor it's been cleaned and repainted its correct orange to look fresh. It's mated to its original M20 Muncie 4 speed manual transmission with a new clutch installed. The original 12 bolt rear end holds its correct 3.31 gears. The floors and frame are rust and damage free original! They have the original Ziebart coating that was added after purchase back in 1970.

There are plenty of 1970 Chevelle SSs, mostly clones. There are some very nicely restored examples, some even have documentation. There are not many on this planet as well preserved and original as this one! Whether you have 1 or 100, this is a car to be proud of. Great candidate for concourse judging. This is a solid investment!

Service: We inspected the car and had only a few repairs to do. We fixed a vacuum leak at the cowl induction actuator, fixed the shifter reverse contact so reverse lights operate, and fixed the connection to the amp gauge.

A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum.
