3/4 Scale Trackless Train Built by Ford For The 1939 New York Worlds Fair.
3/4 Scale Trackless Train Built by Ford For The 1939 New York Worlds Fair. This 3/4 scale trackless train is one of a kind! Said to have been built by Ford for the 1939 New York Worlds Fair to carry passengers around the 1216 acre park in 1939 and 1940. In 1939 trains were still the the major form of transportation and were a huge part of the Transportation Zone set up at the fair. Originally this train was powered by a flathead Ford V8 engine and a 3 speed manual transmission. Since then, it has been updated with a more modern Chevrolet 350 engine and automatic transmission. This train is unlike any other trackless train you'll see because it is near exact to that of a real train. Most trackless trains are built off of a car or truck chassis and have rubber automotive tires and are simply dressed to look like a train. This model has actual casted train-like wheels with hard rubber tread. It has three train cars, known as smart cars, to comfortably carry eight passengers each. The smart cars are designed to follow the same path as the engine, which gives this long train very accurate driving with amazing turning radius. It has been updated with a microphone and speakers in each car so guests can be entertained with music of a tour guide can talk to the passengers with ease. We have searched but have not been able to find another like it. Its truly a rare and unique piece of transportation history. We are open to unique trades. Can be shipped easily and reasonably.
